Recall- The right that enables voters to remote unsatisfactory elected officials from office.
Referendum- The practice of letting voters accept or reject measures proposed by the legislature.
Initiative- The right of citizens to place a measure or issue before the voters or the legislature for approval.

Meat inspection act- It required federal inspection of meat sold through interstate commerce and required the agriculture department to set standards of cleanliness in meatpacking plants.
Pure food and Drug act- Prohibited the manufacture, sale, or shipment of impure or falsely labeled food and drugs.
Unfair trade practices- Trading practices which derive a gain at the expense of the competition.
Political
Muckrakers- A journalist who uncovers abuses and corruption in a society
Suffrage- The right to vote.
Jacob Riss- Published a novel called How the Other Half Lives in 1890 it described the poverty, disease, and crime that affected many immigrant neighborhoods in New York City.
History was a history of progress, cites were crowed with new immigrants, working conditions were often bad, and the old political system was breaking down, These conditions gave rise to the progressive movement.Progressives campaigned for both political and social reforms for more than 2 decades." Also a Direct Primary- in which all party members could vote for a candidate to run in the general election. Helped Robert La Follette- Governor, used his office to attack the way of political parties. For this he tried to stop the party bosses from controlling the candidates. This gave everyone equal voting rights which became progressive.
